A New Beginning - March 2005

Hello all...
I thought this might be a good time to bring you up to date on how Greg has
been.
In the last several days he has been suffering with bouts of autonomic dysreflexia. It is a state that exists only in persons with spinal cord
injuries above T-5. It occurs when an irritant occurs below the level of injury (infection, bladder/bowel issues, labor pains etc.). Nerve impulses try to get
to the brain but can't because of the injury. So, the sympathetic portion of the autonomic nervous system reacts causing increased blood pressure, blotching
of the skin, nasal congestion and more. It is an emergency situation which could lead to seizures or strokes. Greg has medication (Procardia) to lower his
blood pressure (as well as antibiotics to treat the infection.). Still, he can't be left alone because he can't get the medication by himself.
I know many of you have never stopped praying for Greg and his family. We are very grateful for your prayers. God has been faithful in his provision, we
continue to pray for healing and comfort.
While you pray, I urge you to pray for Terri Schiavo and her family as well. (see http://www.terrisfight.org). She is being denied nutrients and water.
No one is permitted to attempt to give her food or water by mouth. This, in an attempt to safeguard Terri's "right to die".
Do we have that right?
Job 28: 20-28
"Where then does wisdom come from?
Where does understanding dwell?
It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds of the air. Destruction and Death say, 'Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.'
God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, for he views the ends of the eatth and sees everything under the heavens.
When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters, when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm, then he looked at wisdom and appraised it:
he confirmed it and tested it.
And he said to man, 'The fear of the Lord - that is wisdom,
and to shun evil is understanding.'"
Pray beloved.
Blessings,
Connie

Hello all...
Thank you for your prayers. Greg has not had an episode of autonomic
dysreflexia for several days.
In Matthew 18:19-20 Jesus says, "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth
agree about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
Prayer is powerful. Jeremiah 29:12-13 "In those days when you pray, I (God)
will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me."
If you think that God doesn't listen to your prayers, I encourage you to keep
praying. I also encourage you to read the Bible. (If you have any questions
about this, send me a note.)
It is approaching 2 years since Greg's accident. God has seen to his financial
well-being through the generosity of His people. There are still huge trials.
Ones that were totally unexpected, and so all the more painful. But, according
to James 1:1-4.."Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of
many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and
complete, not lacking in anything." and then in verse 5.." If any of you lacks
wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not
doubt..."
I know that God has a plan and purpose and his will is that we have life and
have it abundantly. I also pray for abundant life for all you.
Blessings,
Connie
PS. Tom's dad is having surgery on Thursday to remove a tumor from his
prostate. We' ve been told it's benign.
