A New Beginning - January

January

Hi All......

We are in need of urgent prayer. Greg has been having some symptoms.....a sharp pain behind his eye, eratic blood pressure, numbness on the left side of his face and down his left side, increased spasms and one eye that dilates. He was scheduled for an MRI on this coming Saturday to see if he has a condition where a cyst forms in the area of the spinal cord, putting pressure on the spinal cord. It can cause more damage of the spinal cord resulting in decreased function above the level of injury. It can also result in death.

The numbness is a relatively new symptom. When Greg went to therapy today, he told Doc Brenes about his new symptoms. Dr. Brenes scheduled him for a brain MRI on Wednesday and told him not to do any more therapy at this time. He also said that he could not tell him not to be worried.

Please pass this on to your prayer groups. We will keep you informed.

Blessings,

Connie

Tomorrow is the MRI to determine if he has syringomyelia.

Keep on prayin'.

Hi All....

Well, Greg got the results of his spinal MRI today. He and Francie met with the neurosurgeon who operated on him at AGH right after the accident. The doctor said that there was a small spot on the MRI and he didn't know if it was a contusion or a small amount of fluid. In any case, he didn't think anything needed to be done about it at this time.

More troubling however......the doctor said that it appeared that the surgery site was crooked now. It had been very nice and straight. He is concerned that the fusion is not holding up. Greg has to go for more X-rays tomorrow and perhaps more in 2 months. What that all means is unclear.

Please continue your prayers.

Blessings,

Connie

Hi All....

Here is the latest on Greg's condition. Dr. Flannigan still has not read the X-rays on Greg's neck. Greg is on limited therapy...no standing..nothing that would put strain on his neck. It is very unsettling.

Friends.....each day brings so many challenges. It is so easy to get depressed...yet I have comfort in knowing that our heavenly Father has met each need as it comes and He has promised to never abandon us or forsake us.

Blessings,

Connie

All.....

Dr. Flannigan's office finally called Greg late this afternoon. The message from Roz was...the doctor is concerned. It appears that the vertebrae that was repaired and the one below it are collapsing. He wants Greg to go for more Xrays...but he can't see him until next Monday.

Thank you for yuor continued prayers.

PS. Francie's brother Scott was hit by a car in New York City. He has a broken ankle. Please keep Scott in your prayers as well.
PPSS. Greg's 35th birthday is February 7th. He'll finally be old enough to run for President of the USA.

Blessings,

Connie
