A New Beginning - December
December
December 1, 2003
Hello All,
I thought I'd take a couple of minutes to touch base with you all.
I hope you all had a good thanksgiving. We certainly did.
Greg got to eat with everybody upstairs. Heather, with Tom's help,
managed to get him upstairs using his chair as a dolly. They took his
tippers off, leaned him way back, she pulled him up and Tom spotted on
the bottom. Later, he came downstairs. Tom came first, then Greg
and Heather held him back by scootching down the steps on her bum (
was that a bad thing to say?) It went very smoothly. (At least it seemed to....I didn't watch.)
Greg has been re-evaluated for therapy since his first 10 weeks are up.
He took several Jebson (sp?) tests in hand therapy. Overall he cut most
of his times in half. He was also re-evaluated in Physical therapy. He
will be starting on leg skates soon.
They measured his thighs and calves for the first time since the
blood clots formed. His thighs have decreased 3 inches and his
calves one inch. He is still swollen, so you can imagine how swollen he was.
This has been quite a journey so far. We have really been forced to
put up or shut up in the faith department. There have been some low
points, but at each one, God has given us a glimpse of His promise so
that our faith is renewed. At the beginning of his book James
say:
"Is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then
be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance
to grow. So let it grow and don't try to squirm out of your problems.
For when your patience is in full bloom, then you will be ready for
anything, strong in character, full and complete.." James 1:1-4
I have received some disturbing news about a friend I used to work with, Ron Adams.
Ron lives in Fla. and has been stricken with mosquito-borne encephalitis. Ron's
personality has been totally altered by it, his short term memory is gone,
and he is in a general state of confusion. There is no treatment or cure for
this virus, it has to run it's course, often claiming victims, or leaving
them permanently brain damaged. Please pray for Ron.
Before I close, I want you to know that I thank God for all of you.
Your continued prayers are powerful. Many of you have helped in so
many ways, I couldn't even begin to count them all. Special fund
raisers (the dinner-dance, the MOPS spaghetti dinner, Nia Capuano's
basketball clinic, Revelation Hair Salon's Autumn Bazaar, the car
cruise, Bon Meade teachers Bruster's Days, North Park CLubhouse and
Harold's weeks, Cindy Custer's chorus concert, Allard's Halloween
fundraiser, and more), loving gifts from St Andrew's Nursery School
and the mom's of St. Andrews, the people who shop and cook and take
Greg to therapy, the people who helped with the renovation of the
downstairs, and those who faithfully send money to help with expenses,
Linda and Lois who gave the van, my friends who came and weeded my yard
when the weeds were overtaking the house, the visitors, the cards, our
friends at Riverdale Church who have started a fund to help pay off
Greg and Francie's mortgage. ( This would be such a relief to them.
As you know, Greg's salary and benefits end on December 31st, 2003.
There's more information about this on the website.).and all those
prayers. You have a been a true blessing to all of us.
Blessings,
Connie

Hi All....
Merry Christmas !
I don't know where to begin. Our family has been so blessed by the outpouring
of love showed to Greg, Francie and the boys. The gifts of toys, food, and money
have been overwhelming. Yesterday 2 young girls around 11 or 12 years old
arrived at the door. They gave Francie a gift of money and gift certificates.
When she asked who they were..they said..."We're anonymous."
We know who they are....God's workers. My friend Saundra says that
sometimes God gives us someone with skin on ...and sometimes we're
that someone. So you have all been to us.
God Bless You.
