A New Beginning - April
April
April 20, 2004
Hello all....
It's been a while since I've written, so let me try to catch you up.
Greg's neck surgery was on March 12th. He had a follow-up visit with Dr. Flannigan
last week and is waiting for him to read his Xrays and call back. He hasn't
returned to therapy yet. Hopefully he will be able to return soon. I think
it's important for him to get back to work on his recovery.
As you know, friends from the neighborhood, Riverdale Church and Union Church really
pulled together and did some temporary changes to Greg and Francie's house so that
Greg could come home in September. Their house is a small split entry. The family
room was turned into a bedroom and the laundry room was turned into a bathroom
with a roll in shower. It certainly has been a blessing since otherwise Greg
would not have been able to go home. It is confining though.
Recently they had an estimate done for a renovation of the upstairs.
This would involve extending the house out the back 12 feet. The
estimate (without Heat/Air) was $103,000. In addition (to that amount) The
Office of Vocational Rehabilitation will pay for an elevator and to widen
the doors. Interestingly they won't pay to enlarge the kitchen, even
though Greg cannot get into the kitchen to prepare himself breakfast or
lunch should he go back to work and Francie is not there. "They don't
do kitchens." (This definitely requires prayer).
I have been reading the book of Job. It has been quite sobering.
It raising many questions as to why and when God acts and why and when
He is silent. In the end it comes down to trust. About a month ago our
friend Terri Peterson left me scripture from Psalms....I paraphrase...."I
would have lost hope if I had not seen the work of the Lord in the world." That it so true.
Friends...we are not finished yet...better said, God is not finished
with us yet...and though I become impatient ...his time is not
my time...and so we wait upon the Lord.
Please keep praying....
Blessings,
Connie
